GEN201-Foundations For University Success
Wk 2 Discussion: Habits for Success
Discussion Topic
Both academically and professionally, you will apply practices and habits that contribute to your success.
Discover
In last week’s discussion, you reflected on your past experiences, considered your present thinking, and envisioned your potential future to help you discover ways to overcome challenges and persist toward achieving your educational and professional goals. Preparing for success also involves developing habits, like prioritizing and goal setting, to support your journey.
Reflect
Think about the events that take place in your day-to-day life. Some examples might include working, picking up your kids from school, preparing dinner, attending church, spending quality time with your spouse, and so forth. Next, think about some of your daily habits. For example: Do you take long showers? Do you spend a lot of time looking at social media, watching TV, or playing video games? Consider the amount of time you spend with these events and habits and how you prioritize them.
Act
Before you draft your response to this discussion, be sure to read through the Week 2 materials.

- What changes have you made in your daily routines since starting class? Consider how you have been managing stress, prioritizing activities, and managing your time.
- Based on what you learned in Ch. 3 of the myBook, what new habits can you develop to help you achieve your educational and professional goals and how might your habits help you be successful?
